The Minister of Higher Education and the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization discuss the mechanisms of manufacturing the first Egyptian electric car

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Major General. Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, held a meeting; To discuss the mechanisms of the project to manufacture the first Egyptian electric car, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr. Abeer Al-Shater, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs, and a number of officials of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, at the

headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed that the project to manufacture the first Egyptian electric car comes in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to develop electric car technology locally, and to develop the Egyptian industry as one of the tributaries of national income, referring to Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, followed up the executive steps of the project, explaining the necessity of linking scientific research with industry, and converting research into innovative products and services that represent scientific solutions to societal problems and challenges, thus achieving a knowledge-based economy, localizing the Egyptian industry, and limiting imports in a way that contributes to raising the national economy. and its development.

Dr. praised. Ayman Ashour, with the capabilities of the Arab Organization for Industrialization and its efforts, whether at the local, regional or international level, appreciating the role of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in transforming innovations into applied and industrial models that can be used in industry, stressing that we have qualified cadres of young engineers who are able to manufacture the local component of electric cars Pointing to the successful participation of the team of students of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University in 2018 in the global "Formula Student UK" competition To design and manufacture racing cars in England, and to obtain first place in a competition with 81 universities from all over the world, including: (Liverpool, MIT, Manchester, Cambridge, Oxford, Texas, and Queen Mary), stressing that Egypt has a huge human wealth of creative youth. It will contribute to achieving renaissance and progress for our country.

For his part, Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, stressed the importance of implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to enhance constructive cooperation between the state's industrial institutions and scientific research centers and to exploit national manufacturing capabilities to deepen and increase the rates of local manufacturing and localization of technology. Pointing to the importance of achieving industrial integration, increasing added value and limiting imports, which contributes to strengthening the implementation of the strategic plan for industrial development and increasing export opportunities and areas.

And he praised the cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in this project, pointing out that the authority owns (14) companies and factories that enable it to transform any innovation into a product, stressing the readiness of the authority as an integrated industrial institution to cooperate with the ministry to manufacture and implement the first Egyptian electric car under the slogan “Making in Egypt".

During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghamry, Assistant President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the main researcher of the project to manufacture the first Egyptian electric car, gave a detailed presentation on the project, indicating that the goal is to reduce imports, save hard currency, and put Egypt in the position it deserves regionally as one of the most important countries that manufacture cars, and provide job opportunities, pointing to the efforts of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology towards developing an Egyptian electric car by financing and sponsoring the electric car rally competition for students of faculties of engineering To prepare staff to work on the development of the automotive industry since 2018, and to finance and support a project to design an Egyptian car for use in urban areas, explaining the elements of the electric car and its development mechanism, in addition to technology transfer. projects in the automotive industry globally.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the importance of the project in meeting the needs of the Egyptian market, and the advantages of the electric car proposed to be manufactured as environmentally friendly as it contributes to reducing carbon emissions, and this comes within the framework of the green transition, in addition to that it will be available to all groups, especially youth, as they represent 60% of the population. In Egypt, as well as discussing the economic feasibility of owning an Egyptian design, the mechanisms of its implementation, the proposed alternatives to the model to be manufactured, the project budget, financing destinations, target markets, and means of marketing the project.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Farouk, Assistant President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghamry, Assistant President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the main researcher for the project to manufacture the first Egyptian electric car, and the president of the EgyptSat satellite company.
