Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, inspected the construction work of the Belqas plant for mechanical and biological treatment of solid waste in Belqas, Dakahlia Governorate. The plant is being implemented by the Arab British Company for Dynamic Industries, a subsidiary of the Arab Organization for Industrialization. (ABD)

The event was attended by Major General Engineer Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, General Director of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), and Major General Eng.Yasser Attia, Chairman of the British company Arab Dynamic Industries (ABD), as well as a number of AOI leaders.

This comes within the framework of the Kitchener Drain Water Quality Improvement Project (Solid Waste Program), funded by the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

In this context, Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif praised the serious cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and the EBRD in implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to continue efforts to activate the new municipal solid waste management system.

 This is in light of the utmost importance the state places on improving the environmental, health, and living conditions of citizens, reducing pollution rates, establishing a national waste management industry, and providing new job opportunities.

He noted that the plan in place achieves sustainability and continuity and has positive repercussions on the state's sustainable development plan and Egypt's Vision 2030.

During his inspection of the developments in the construction of the Belqas Mechanical and Biological Treatment Plant, he listened to a detailed presentation on the implementation status of the existing projects.

He then toured the site, which extends over an area of ​​17 acres, and was keen to hold discussions with the project's workers and executive consultants, as well as the European Bank consultant. He praised the efforts exerted by all project workers, as well as the societal role played by the AOI's factories and companies in serving the community and citizens.

He emphasized the Arab British Dynamic Industries Company (ABD)'s commitment to rapid implementation according to the specified timetable, noting that it is currently constructing five factories for mechanical and biological treatment of solid municipal waste in the governorates of Dakahlia, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Gharbia simultaneously, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

He also noted that a sixth factory is being constructed in the village of Rifa in Assiut Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and the German Development Bank. He explained that the recycling factories include (3) factories in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, in the cities of Desouk, El-Hamoul, and Kafr El-Sheikh, and a fourth factory in Dakahlia Governorate in the city of Belqas

With a production capacity of (600) tons of solid waste per day for each factory, and the fifth in the village of Dafra in Gharbia Governorate with a capacity of 1,600 tons/day.

He added that the factories are designed in accordance with all standard and environmental specifications and requirements, taking into account a civilized appearance. He emphasized the need to deepen local manufacturing of various equipment, leveraging advanced international expertise in this field and cooperating between the organization's various factories.

In a related context, the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization directed the construction of a water and sewage treatment plant in the aforementioned factories, to be used for irrigating agricultural areas within each factory, and to preserve the environment.

It is worth noting that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has issued two international tenders to establish the five solid waste recycling factories. The Arab British Dynamic Industries Company (ABD) competed against several alliances, including a Greek-Turkish alliance. ABD won the contract to implement these five factories. Construction and operation of these factories are planned for early next year, 2026, and will continue until February 2027.
