Major General Eng. "Mokhtar Abdellatif," Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Major General "Tarek El-Shazly," Governor of Suez, and Mr. "Walid Gamal El-Din," Head of the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal, along with senior officials from the Chinese Sailun Group today laid the foundation stone for a tire manufacturing plant.
This step comes as part of the successful efforts of the Arab Organization for Industrialization to localize technology, increase local manufacturing rates, reduce imports, increase the added value of the industry, and attract investments to the Egyptian market in various industrial fields, in line with Egypt's Vision for Sustainable Development 2030.
During the event, the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization emphasized the importance of this project as one of the significant industrial projects for the Egyptian economy, pointing out the importance of enhancing partnerships with the global Chinese Sailun Group to establish a factory for the production of tires for cars and various vehicles in Egypt, using the latest global manufacturing technologies.
He mentioned that the project covers an area of 350,000 square meters in the Suez Canal economic zone and will be executed in three phases, with the production capacity of the first phase reaching 3.6 million tires annually.
The production of the first tire will commence after 9 months, with substantial investments reaching 1 billion dollars for the project across its three phases.
He pointed out that the project aims to localize tire manufacturing within the Egyptian market, in light of a high import bill amounting to about half a billion dollars annually.
He noted that this factory is a pivotal step towards enhancing local production and reducing reliance on imports, which contributes to supporting the national economy and achieving real added value for the Egyptian industry.
He added that the project aligns with the state's direction towards deepening local manufacturing and transferring and localizing global technology across various industrial sectors, especially in the automotive supply industries.
He clarified that we aim to meet the needs of the local market and export to sisterly and friendly African and Arab countries.
