Lieutenant-General Abdel Moneim El-Terras, head of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, emphasized the importance of implementing President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's directives to strengthen constructive cooperation between the country's industrial and research institutions and to exploit national manufacturing capabilities to deepen local manufacturing and localize the technology for manufacturing equipment for water desalination plants.
This came during the signing of the cooperation protocol between Arabia for Industrialization and the "ECR" Engineering and Consulting Company.
In this regard, "Al-Terras" explained that with this cooperation we aim to deepen the manufacture of equipment and parts for desalination plants with the Egyptian national expertise, pointing out, for example, that the costs of importing high-pressure pumps and energy-saving units are responsible for pumping water with high pressure and raising it to the membranes that separate fresh water. Regarding Al-Malaha, it is about 30% of the total costs of the electromechanical equipment needed for the establishment of the desalination plant, in addition to that about 20% of the plant's operating costs are estimated for the maintenance of membranes and filters.
The "Terrace" praised the experiences of "ECR" as one of the important entities specialized in the fields of applied science to design water desalination equipment, explaining the agreement to increase the proportions of the local component for the production and manufacture of technologies in order to save the costs of importing the components that enter the manufacture of desalination plants, and to reduce imports. To save huge sums of hard currency, and on the other hand, to localize this industry in a way that contributes to reducing the price per cubic meter of water and achieving high added value for the national industry.
He added that it was agreed to design and manufacture water desalination equipment of all kinds locally, by making use of the materials and equipment produced by the Arab Organization for Industrialization in accordance with international quality standards and at competitive market prices, referring to the success of the authority's engine factory in manufacturing the Egyptian-made centrifugal pump by 100%, which It is an essential part of water treatment plants.
The "Terrace" stated that the areas of cooperation aim to meet the needs of all the local market and national projects and expand in the future to the African and Arab markets, referring to the preparation and implementation of training programs for technology transfer and the provision of necessary support for research and development work and to benefit from research and applied studies in universities, institutes and research centers, as well as conducting studies Market for the targeted product locally and abroad.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Sweidan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ECR, praised the pivotal role played by the Arab Organization for Industrialization in introducing the latest production technologies and deepening local manufacturing in accordance with international quality standards, pointing to the importance of strengthening cooperation with Arab Industrialization to reduce The economics of establishing desalination plants within the framework of the government's drive to find unconventional alternatives to water resources, expanding the establishment of seawater desalination plants, especially in coastal cities, in addition to increasing the production and capacity of some existing stations.
