Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), and Dr. Eng.Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, inaugurated the new production line for the manufacture of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage power towers at the Aircraft Factory, one of the AOI's factories.
The inauguration was attended by Major General Eng.Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, General Director of the AOI; Major General Eng.Mohamed Awad, Chairman of the Aircraft Factory; Eng. Gaber Desouky, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company; Engineer Mona Rizk, Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company; and leaders from the AOI and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
This inauguration comes within the framework of an ambitious plan implemented by the AOI, based on scientific foundations and aimed at implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to localize technology, increase local manufacturing rates, and manufacture imported goods according to the highest international quality standards under the slogan "Made in Egypt."
During the opening ceremony, Major General Eng.Mokhtar Abdellatif indicated that the Arab Organization for Industrialization aims to achieve self-sufficiency for the country and meet all the needs of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for high- and extra-high-voltage power towers across all governorates of the republic, at competitive prices in accordance with international quality standards. He noted that future expansion is planned to meet the needs of regional markets for this type of power tower.
He explained that the production line for high- and extra-high-voltage towers was established at the aircraft factory using the latest digital manufacturing machines, with an annual production capacity of 15,000 tons in the first phase, with plans to increase this to 30,000 tons annually by the end of this year. He noted that the Arab Organization for Industrialization has been keen to train engineers and technicians selected from the aircraft factory's human resources to work on the new production line, according to specialized training programs that comply with the latest standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He pointed out that the inauguration of the high-voltage and extra-high-voltage tower production line is a continuation of the successful and ongoing steps taken by the Arab Organization for Industrialization to utilize its surplus advanced manufacturing capabilities to meet all the needs of ministries, government institutions, and Egyptian private sector companies.
He explained that the new production line, inaugurated today at the aircraft factory, follows the factory's success in localizing telecommunications tower manufacturing technology with a 100% local manufacturing rate and implementing large-scale actual supplies of telecommunications towers to various Egyptian telecommunications companies and all projects of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
In a related context, Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif emphasized the Arab Organization for Industrialization's commitment to supporting national industry and strengthening partnerships with various local and international entities within the framework of Egypt's Vision for Sustainable Development 2030.
He noted that we possess advanced manufacturing capabilities and trained human resources, which will contribute to reducing dependence on imports, achieving self-sufficiency, and supplying all projects of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy throughout the country's governorates with products that meet international quality standards, in addition to maintenance and after-sales services.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, emphasized that what we witnessed today is one of the fruits of the partnership with the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the efforts to transfer modern technology and localize industry, particularly the electrical equipment industry. He explained that the Ministry has granted preferential benefits for the use of local products in projects, particularly renewable energy projects. He pointed to the National Energy Strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy mix to more than 42% by 2030 and 65% by 2040, which supports the action plan between the Ministry and the Authority to localize the manufacturing of its equipment.
He explained that work is currently underway to expand the solar cell industry, localize the energy storage battery industry, and manufacture some special equipment for several projects that the Ministry is implementing.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat stated that localizing industry is a permanent item in all meetings and encounters with international companies, and that the next phase will witness special requirements for launching renewable energy projects, giving priority to local manufacturing. He emphasized ongoing coordination and cooperation with all parties to support the electricity and renewable energy sector plan and the strategy for transformation. Towards clean energy, he explained the acceleration of implementation steps for projects currently being implemented to increase the added capacity of renewable energy to the national electricity grid. He added that work is continuing on projects to support, develop and modernize the grid, and increase its capacity to absorb new energy, increasing loads and steady increases in consumption. He praised cooperation and coordination with the Arab Organization for Industrialization within the framework of the state's plan to localize industry and achieve sustainable development.
