The Chairman of the AOI and the Governor of the New Valley Witness the Signing of a Framework Cooperation Agreement to Establish the Arab Company for Compressed Wood Manufacturing

Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and Major General Dr. Mohamed El-Zamlout, Governor of the New Valley, witnessed the signing of a framework agreement to establish the Arab Company for Compressed Wood Manufacturing to meet the needs of the local market, open export markets to African and Arab countries, and promote the "Made in Egypt" slogan.

 

The signing took place in the presence of Major General Eng. Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, General Director of the Arab Organization for Industrialization; Dr. Eng. Khaled Shukry, Advisor to the Chairman of the AOI  for Chemical Industries; Major General Eng.Mohamed Anis, Advisor to the Chairman of the AOI  for Feasibility Studies; and Mr. Mohamed Metwally, Executive Director of the Slovakian company Orion International s.r.o.

 In this context, Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif expressed his appreciation and pride in the ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and the New Valley Governorate in various industrial fields.

 He emphasized the Arab Organization for Industrialization's commitment to implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding maximizing the use of palm products and waste, environmental protection and conservation projects, and building a strong and balanced economy that respects the rights of future generations to a clean and healthy environment, in accordance with Egypt's Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development.

 

He explained that an agreement had been reached to establish the Arab Company for the Manufacture of Compressed Wood as a joint venture affiliated with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, with an investment value of up to 70 million euros.

 The company will be built on an area of ​​(75) acres in the city of Kharga in the New Valley Governorate, with an annual production capacity of up to 100,000 cubic meters. This will be achieved through cooperation between the Arab Organization for Industrialization, the New Valley Governorate, and the Slovakian company Orion International, in coordination with the Waste Management Authority at the Ministry of Environment, to maximize the use of palm products and waste and manufacture wood. He explained that the factory's production plays a positive and effective role in saving hard currency from importing compressed wood from abroad and meeting the local market's needs for various wood products. He noted that this industry relies entirely on locally sourced raw materials in the New Valley Governorate.

 

He added that technologically advanced production lines are scheduled to be installed in cooperation with the German company Dieffenbacher, in accordance with European standards.

He noted that the Arab Organization for Industrialization is dedicating all its manufacturing capabilities and technological capabilities to accelerating the implementation of this important national project, especially after the successful practical experiment of manufacturing compressed wood panels from palm fronds. The manufacturing and testing results were promising.

 

He added that this pioneering step in the field of wood manufacturing from recycled palm waste embodies the state's national vision of investing in natural resources efficiently and effectively, which contributes to creating new job opportunities, improving the standard of living, and providing environmentally safe and high-quality products.

 

For his part, Major General Dr. Mohamed El-Zamlout, Governor of the New Valley, praised the cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, the state's industrial backbone, noting that

The agreement is the culmination of a series of coordination efforts and studies conducted with several relevant entities inside and outside Egypt. These efforts aimed to arrive at the most appropriate proposals for exploiting the governorate's available resources, including palm waste, contributing to its safe disposal and building a strong economy that respects the rights of future generations to a clean and healthy environment.

On the other hand, El-Zamlout praised the Egyptian state's efforts to localize comprehensive development in the governorates and open up prospects for foreign investment, which contributes to generating hard currency by reducing the import bill and meeting the needs of the local and foreign markets for high-quality wood products. He emphasized that the agreement aims to achieve investments worth 70 million euros, with a production capacity of up to 100,000 cubic meters annually, on an area of ​​75 acres in Kharga City.

 

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Metwally, CEO of the Slovakian company Orion International, expressed his pride in cooperating with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, the Egyptian industrial backbone, and its manufacturing expertise across all industries.

 He highlighted its excellence in the field of environmental protection projects, in terms of its manufacturing capabilities and distinguished human expertise. He added that this cooperation will represent a significant addition to the Egyptian economy, contributing to achieving sustainable environmental development.
