President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).
The Official Spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the President reviewed the overall activities and projects of the factories and companies affiliated with the AOI in various fields.
In this context, Major General Eng.Mokhtar Abdellatif explained that the AOI is working according to a comprehensive strategy aimed at deepening local manufacturing, increasing export rates, and enhancing the manufacturing and technological capabilities of its factories.
This is in addition to cooperating with the private sector to establish joint projects, utilizing the AOI's advanced industrial capabilities.
For his part, the President emphasized the important role played by the AOI in various sectors, particularly in enhancing local manufacturing rates, localizing industry, and increasing exports, which contributes to reducing the import bill and providing foreign currency, in support of the national economy.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the Official Spokesperson, indicated that the President also reviewed the frameworks of cooperation between the AOI and a number of major international companies operating in the automotive industry.
In this context, the President inspected a number of Citroën C4X vehicles, 45% of which are locally manufactured at the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) factories, in partnership with the Arab American Vehicles (AAV) and the French Stellantis Group. Major General Abdel Fattah El Sisi, head of the AOI, explained that planning for production of this model began in August 2023, and that technical and logistical preparations were completed until the initial prototypes were produced in March 2025. He added that approximately 7,000 vehicles are planned to be produced annually over four years, totaling 28,000 units. Preparations are currently underway to produce a new vehicle in cooperation with the Stellantis Group, with production expected to begin by the end of 2026, totaling 240,000 units.
These will be manufactured exclusively at the AOI's factories, without being produced in any of the group's other factories worldwide.
The official spokesperson added that the President directed continued strengthening cooperation with private sector companies, both locally and internationally, in support of the state's strategy aimed at localizing the automotive industry, increasing the percentage of local components, and maximizing exports of products manufactured in Egypt.
