As part of the AOI's commitment to supporting innovative talent in all scientific and industrial fields and promoting the transformation of research outputs into practical models applicable to various industrial sectors, Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the AOI, honored the ASUWind team from the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. The team achieved third place globally in the International Small Wind Turbine Competition (ISTWC), held in the Netherlands from July 7-10, 2026, with the participation of elite university teams from around the world.
The honoring ceremony was attended by Major General Eng. Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, Director General of the AOI, and Major General Eng. Mohamed Awad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aircraft Factory, one of the AOI's factories. Professor Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zein El Abdeen, President of Ain Shams University, Professor Dr. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University, and members of the academic team supervising the ASUWind team were present.
As part of the celebration activities, the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization expressed his appreciation and delight in honoring the research team that won third place in the international competition for small wind turbines. He noted that the organization sponsors innovators and creators and is committed to building effective partnerships with universities and scientific research centers, stemming from its belief in the importance of linking scientific research to the needs of industry and the labor market, and transforming research ideas and innovations into practical applications that contribute to serving society.
He praised the excellence of the research teams at the prestigious Ain Shams University and their outstanding performance in international competitions and forums. He affirmed the Arab Organization for Industrialization's readiness to provide technical support to all researchers at Ain Shams University participating in local and international scientific competitions and to implement various scientific research projects with industrial applications, in addition to providing training opportunities at the Arab Organization for Industrialization Academy and its various training centers. For his part, Professor Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zein El Abdeen, President of Ain Shams University, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, for this generous support. He explained that the organization played a pivotal and fundamental role in this success through the technical and manufacturing support it provided to the research team. The organization's aircraft factory undertook the manufacturing of turbine blade molds and the production of blade assemblies according to the highest standards of quality and precision, which directly contributed to enhancing the team's competitiveness.
He emphasized that we are celebrating a successful national partnership between a university that believes in science and a national organization that believes in industry. We are confident that this fruitful partnership will continue and expand in the coming years, opening new horizons for cooperation in the fields of advanced manufacturing, new and renewable energy, and technological innovation.
For his part, Engineer Rami Mohamed Awad, a member of the winning research team, expressed the team's happiness, appreciation, and gratitude for the warm welcome and sincere sentiments shown by Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and his full support for implementing the research project by utilizing the advanced manufacturing capabilities at the aircraft factory. He emphasized that they had witnessed the strong interest shown by the organization's leadership in carrying out this research project.
On behalf of the scientific team, he also expressed their aspiration to further utilize the advanced manufacturing capabilities of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, which would support the series of successes achieved by students of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University in international forums. This would affirm their ability to apply engineering knowledge to develop advanced solutions in the field of renewable energy, thus reinforcing Egypt's leading position in preparing engineering professionals capable of competing regionally and internationally. He also distributed medals to the academic team supervising the research team: Professor Dr. Adel El Sabbagh, Professor Dr. Tamer El Nady, Professor Dr. Ashraf Mostafa, and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Abdullah.

presenting them with certificates of appreciation and the Arab Organization for Industrialization medals: Rami Mohamed Awad and Raphael Magdy George (Department of Electrical Power and Machines Engineering), Rowan Mohamed Hegazy, Sandy Talaat Samir, Abdel Rahman Mohamed Hassan Abdel Rahman, Mariam Osama Eissa, Youssef Amr Saeed, and Makoni Karam Helmy (Department of Design and Production Engineering).
