Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), inspected the trial operation of the orthopedic supplies factory affiliated with the Arab African Medical Industries Company, a subsidiary of the AOI. He viewed the factory's first production of plates, screws, and artificial joints.
This step comes in light of an ambitious strategic plan implemented by the AOI, based on scientific foundations and aimed at implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives regarding the transfer and localization of the latest global technologies in the medical industry under the slogan "Made in Egypt."
During his tour, Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif noted that this project represents a qualitative step toward achieving self-sufficiency in orthopedic supplies.
He noted that the factory has been equipped according to the highest international quality standards to meet part of the local market's needs and export to regional and global markets.
He explained that the factory was built on an area of 4,800 square meters to localize the manufacture of orthopedic supplies, including plates, screws, and artificial joints.
It includes two production halls and service buildings. He added that the latest machines and high-precision measuring devices are used in the manufacturing process, ensuring production in accordance with European quality standards and the instructions of the German company contracted to produce under its trade name and trademark. He stated that the factory's production capacity is 10,000 joints per shift per year, in addition to 22,000 splints and 120,000 screws per shift per year.
The percentage of local components in the products ranges from 80% to 90%. In a related context, Major General Eng.Mokhtar Abdellatif emphasized the Arab Organization for Industrialization's commitment to supporting national industry and strengthening partnerships with various local and international entities.
He noted that we possess advanced manufacturing capabilities, trained human resources, and partnerships with leading experts in the local and international medical industries, which contributes to strengthening the healthcare system and reducing dependence on imports.
