Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, inspected the construction work on solid waste recycling plants in Kafr El-Sheikh and Desouk, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
The plants are being implemented by the Arab British Dynamic Industries Company (ABD), a subsidiary of the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
This is part of the Kitchener Drain Water Quality Improvement Project (Solid Waste Program), funded by the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Major General Eng. Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, General  Director of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and a number of the organization's leaders were also present.
In this context, Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif praised the serious cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to continue efforts to activate the new municipal solid waste management system.
This is in light of the state's utmost importance to improving citizens' environmental, health, and living conditions, reducing pollution rates, establishing a national waste management industry, and providing new job opportunities. He noted that the plan in place achieves sustainability and continuity.
It has positive repercussions on the country's sustainable development plan and Egypt's Vision 2030.
He emphasized the Arab British Dynamics Industries Company's (ABD) commitment to rapid implementation according to the specified timetable, noting that it is currently constructing (4) factories for the mechanical and biological treatment of solid municipal waste in Dakahlia and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates simultaneously, and a fifth factory in the village of Rifa in Assiut governorate.
He explained that the recycling factories include (3) factories in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate in the cities of Desouk, El-Hamoul, and Kafr El-Sheikh, and the fourth factory in Dakahlia governorate in the city of Belqas, with a production capacity of (600) tons of solid waste per day for each factory.
He added that the design of the four factories is being carried out in accordance with all standard and environmental requirements and specifications, taking into account a civilized appearance.
He emphasized the need to deepen local manufacturing of various pieces of equipment, leveraging advanced international expertise in this field and in cooperation between the AOI's various factories.
During his inspection of the progress of the construction of solid waste recycling plants in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, he listened to a detailed presentation on the implementation status of the existing projects.
He then conducted an inspection tour of the site and discussed with the project's workers and executive consultants, as well as the European Bank consultant.
He praised the efforts exerted by all project workers, as well as the societal role played by the AOI's companies and factories in serving the community and citizens.
In this context, it is worth noting that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development issued a global tender to establish four solid waste recycling plants. The Arab British Dynamic Industries Company (ABD) competed against several alliances, including a Greek-Turkish alliance. ABD won the bid to implement these four plants.
