The Prime Minister is following up the executive position of the municipal solid waste system in its first and second phases

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly followed up the executive position of the new municipal solid waste system for the first and second phases, during a meeting held today in the presence of Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, and Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Morsi, Minister of State for Military Production, And Lieutenant-General Abdel Moneim Al-Terras, Chairman  of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and officials of the concerned authorities.

 

The Prime Minister began the meeting, emphasizing that the state is making great efforts during the current stage in implementing the integrated plan to develop the solid waste management system at the level of the Republic, in light of the directives of the political leadership to continue efforts to activate this system, because of the paramount importance that the state attaches to improving environmental and health conditions. For citizens, reduce pollution rates, establish a national waste management industry, and provide new job opportunities.

 

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said: The government is currently working on implementing experimental models for the solid waste management system in a number of governorates whose infrastructure is nearing completion as a first stage, with intensifying efforts to implement them in other governorates, respectively.

 

During the meeting, the Minister of Local Development reviewed the executive position of the new municipal solid waste system for the first and second phases, explaining that the total number of projects planned to be implemented during the first phase amounts to 90, and is implemented by the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Ministry of State for Military Production.

The minister added that with regard to raising historical accumulations to eliminate random dumps, 44 million tons of waste were removed during a year and a half, represented by 30 million tons generated daily, in addition to removing 14 million tons of historical waste, while the Arab Organization for Industrialization disposed 400 1000 tons in 38 sites, 100% of the target in the first phase.

He continued: All stations, the mobile intermediate, by 7 stations, have been delivered to the targeted governorates, and they are now contributing to raising the efficiency of collection and transportation operations within these governorates.

As for the fixed intermediate stations, Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy indicated that 5 stations have been completed and delivered; It is now contributing to raising the efficiency of collection and transportation operations within these governorates, and two stations, "Fustat Station" in Cairo Governorate and "Minyat Al-Nasr Station" in Dakahlia, have been converted into mobile intermediate stations, and they have been handed over to the two governorates and are now contributing to raising the efficiency of collection and transport operations.
