The Arab Organization for Industrialization and the National Planning Institute are discussing deepening local manufacturing and increasing the added value of Egyptian products

Lieutenant General "Abdel Moneim El-Terras", Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, received Dr. "Alaa Zahran", President of the National Planning Institute, to discuss the operational steps for the partnership and integration between Arab Industrialization and the Planning Institute.

 

These talks come within the framework of implementing the mandates of President "Abdel Fattah El-Sisi" to deepen local industrialization, localize technology and contribute to achieving the strategic plan for industrial development and export.

 

During the meeting, the Arab Industrialization vision was presented on deepening local manufacturing, transferring and localizing technology in many different fields of industry, including medical industries, cars, spare parts, water desalination and purification plants, sewage, pumps, smart meters, electronics, railways, environmentally friendly transportation means, digital transformation, renewable energy and the conversion of obsolete cars. And converting them to environmentally friendly cars using natural gas.

Also, during the meeting, an agreement was made on the partnership and alliance between the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the National Planning Institute and the start of counting production inputs to study their manufacture locally, and the formation of joint work teams to study the needs and set implementation mechanisms at specific times, whether with regard to the manufacture of investment goods and components that are imported from abroad.

 

In this regard, Lieutenant General "The Terrace" stressed the importance of the partnership with the National Planning Institute to support the state's efforts to increase the proportions of the local component and the added value of Egyptian products, stressing that the opportunities for the Egyptian industry to return to leadership are now available in light of the availability of serious political will and the continuous follow-up of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. For programs to deepen local industrialization, transfer and localize technology.

Al-Terras pointed to the close cooperation with all research centers and universities to increase the proportions of the local component and the interest of Arab countries for industrialization in expanding the horizons of partnerships and cooperation with major international companies, thus contributing to the transfer of technical expertise, the settlement of modern technology and the training of human cadres.

 

For his part, Dr. Alaa Zahran said that the objectives of the project to deepen local industrialization are mainly to expand the base of heavy industries in general and the manufacture of machinery and equipment in particular, and the second of which is to increase the local contribution to industrial technologies through technological development and innovation, in addition to increasing the degree of integration of the productive structure of the national economy and strengthening The entanglements between its various industries and sectors, and progress on the road to building a national scientific and technological base, ultimately contributing to achieving the main goals of sustainable development in terms of providing decent and sustainable job opportunities, replacing imports and increasing the volume of exports.

Zahran also stressed that the joint cooperation plan depends on achieving integration and partnership between the National Planning Institute and the Arab Organization for Industrialization, which has a huge industrial and technological base that enables it to play a vital and influential role in designing and manufacturing products and components that are imported from abroad, which is positively reflected in me. Egypt's trade balance, as well as support for the country's various industry sectors and the private sector.

He added that the institute aims, as part of the project to deepen local industrialization, to localize environmentally friendly automobile and electric vehicle manufacturing technology in cooperation with Arab Manufacturing, pointing to the importance of reaching the minimum percentage of the local component in various industrial sectors for a ratio of more than 40%.

During the National Planning Institute delegation inspecting the exhibition of products and manufacturing capabilities at the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Zahran praised the Authority’s efforts to increase the rates of local manufacturing in the various fields of industry, stressing that the National Planning Institute is fully prepared to provide all facilities and cooperation to achieve the maximum possible use of the capabilities of Arab Industrialization And the accumulated experiences of researchers at the Planning Institute to deepen local industrialization in these important national industries.
