Lieutenant-General Abdel Moneim Al-Terras, President of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, stated that work will be done on the establishment and development of intermediate stations by the Arab Organization for Industrialization, as well as the development of waste recycling factories through the Ministry of Military Production, as well as cooperation with private sector companies and international companies as an input to work on the transfer and localization of advanced technology In the field of establishing a modern system for waste management in Egypt, which contributes to deepening local industrialization and strengthening the national economy, stressing the importance of the role of small and medium companies, collectors, and civil society organizations alongside large companies and institutions. The “terrace” indicated that the government’s program to implement the system aims to improve waste recycling practices and increase the percentage of disposal of solid waste safely, raise the efficiency of municipal waste collection and increase the proportion of municipal solid waste collected and recycled in an environmentally sound manner.

For his part, Al-Assar indicated that the Ministry of Military Production confirms its support for the implementation of the system by setting up waste recycling plants to convert it into organic fertilizer and combustion fingers (RDF), which is useful in supplying and operating cement industries with the energy needed for production, in addition to raising the efficiency of some of the factories already established And increase its production lines to accommodate the amount of waste with greater energy, and in this regard, negotiations are under way to contract with major international companies working in this field to localize the latest technologies in Egypt.

It was also referred to the keenness of the Ministry of Military Production to cooperate and integrate with the various ministries, bodies and institutions in the country in implementing national projects and development projects in various fields to serve the Egyptian citizen, and the keenness of those in charge of the new system for waste management was emphasized to achieve a qualitative shift in the level of cleanliness in the governorates through The system, as attention to environmental issues and work to reduce pollution rates in air, water and soil are no longer a luxury or luxury.

Major General Mahmoud Sharawy, Minister of Local Development, during the meeting, referred to the programs of the solid waste management system (2019-2023), explaining that regarding the executive position of the infrastructure development program during the year 2019-2020, 15 fixed intermediate stations were established in 7 governorates, And 7 other mobile in three governorates, this is in addition to the establishment of 26 sanitary landfill cells in 17 governorates, the establishment of three new lines in three governorates for waste recycling and treatment, while raising the efficiency of 6 existing lines, as well as raising accumulations from 38 locations in 7 governorates The total amount of accumulations Which has been lifted to date to 365 thousand tons, and is being completed.

The Minister of Local Development presented the institutional framework for the executive unit for waste management sector, noting that it aims to play the role of the implementer to complete the infrastructure of the system, and to address the lack of financing, investment, planning and contracting capabilities of the governorates, as well as building the capacities of the departments concerned in the governorates so that they have the necessary capabilities to do the work The executive unit and management of the waste sector after the end of its work.

"Sharawi" pointed out that the ministry prepared the conditions and specifications brochures for Cairo Governorate to manage and operate the housing collection operations, the cleanliness of streets, squares, axes, gardens, and demolition and construction waste and transport them to intermediate stations and then transport to the recycling and processing plant, as well as conditions and specifications booklets for the management and operation of recycling and treatment factories and cell management Sanitary burial of safe final rejections in the light of the guiding rules received from the Ministry of Environment in order to ensure a good preparation for the system.

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of the Environment, gave a presentation on the executive measures taken to implement President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s assignments regarding the general framework of the implementation plan for the new municipal solid waste system, in relation to infrastructure, and follow-up on the position regarding contracts for operating collection, transport and street cleaning in Cairo Governorate. As well as contracts for treatment and final disposal of waste, as well as follow-up to the latest developments regarding the study of standards for landfills, which are carried out by a committee formed by the ministries of environment and local development and a group of officials of the relevant authorities .
